Charlie Lee Jenkins Sr., 73

Charlie Lee Jenkins Sr., was born on July 23, 1947 to the late Louise Battle Jenkins and Lenon Jenkins Sr., at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina. He attended Pitt County Schools and was employed by Greene County Public Works, in Walstonburg, NC. He was a loving and supportive father to his children, grandchildren, and family. He departed his life on December 20, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
Charlie is survived by fourteen children; Tammy Newton, Orenza Atkinson, Carlos White, Tabitha Newton, Sharion Atkinson, Joseph Harris Jr.(Tasha), Joseph Antony Harris, Michael Harris, Tenisha Holloway-Powell(Donnie), Rochelle Harris, Crystal Holloway, Charlie Jenkins Jr, Adrian Jenkins, and Shaconda Johnson of North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and Germany. He leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren all of North Carolina, ten siblings; Lenon Jenkins Sr(Murdis), Etha Moore(Curtis), the late James Jenkins (Ella), Willie Jenkins, Mary Jenkins(Willie), the late Patricia Jenkins, Joanne Pettus(Mitch), Williemae Jenkins, Peggy Jenkins and the late David Tripp all of North Carolina. A special friend Rita Rustin of Temple Hills, Maryland. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Charlie was seen as a legend in Greenville NC and surrounding areas. To his children he will always be remembered as “dad or daddy”. He is the greatest role model a child could have ever had. He taught us what it means to dream big and that anything you want can be achieved with hard work and dedication. He would always tell his children to keep God first and self preservation is the law of the land. He put everything into his children, family and career. A man of few words but always gave it to you straight and was there to lift or push you when needed.
There will be a public viewing on Tuesday December 29th, 2020 from 12 p.m until 7 p.m, at Mitchell’s Memorial Funeral Home, located at 2423 Winter Village Dr in Winterville, NC.
There will be a private funeral services for Mr. Jenkins on Wednesday, December 30th at 1:00pm at Progressive Free Will Baptist Church located at 1508 Hooker Rd, in Greenville NC. Service will be officiated by Bishop T. L. Davis.
