Obituary

Zack Junior “Crow” Reddick of Greenville, NC, passed away peacefully at ECU Health Center on Thursday, May 29, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born on June 11, 1935, to the late Zack Reddick and the late Josephine Spencer Reddick. He was also lovingly raised by the late Lillian Jones and family.

Zack attended Fleming Street School and his beloved C. M. Eppes School, where he excelled in academics, sports, student government, and singing. He participated in the band, KKC, glee club, French Club, The Eppsonion Annual Staff, and he was voted the “Most Athletic” of the Senior class. Upon graduating in 1955, Zack enlisted in the United States (US) Air Force (USAF) and served eight-plus (8+) years until his Retirement/Honorable discharge in 1963.

After living in Orlando, Florida, for some time, Zack returned to Greenville, NC, in 1968, when he met Marian “Bell” Spell. The two married on June 8, 1970, and remained married for almost 56 years, until his passing. During this time, Zack worked at Field Crest Mills briefly before he began his 29-year career as a Drug Compounder with Burroughs Welcome. He also attended Pitt Community College, where he received an Associate's Degree in Business Administration and Industrial Management. He specialized in accounting and bookkeeping.

Zack was passionate about helping others and dedicated himself to demonstrating that in his community. He was a dedicated member of Philippi Church of Christ for 40+ years and St. Matthew TBFOC Church until his passing. Some of his notable affiliations and

Zack was an avid reader and loved studying the history of black people in anything! He loved telling stories, enlightening others about our history, and making people laugh. His favorite pastimes included reading, watching world news, documentaries, and westerns. He also loved cracking jokes and spending time with those he loved. 

Zack was preceded in death by his parents, Zack Reddick and Josephine Graham; siblings James “Rabbit” Graham and Annie-Bell Daughtry; first wife, Mildred Hunt Reddick, special son-in-law, Eugene Lane; special daughters Adrienne Reddick and Carolyn Hooks; and Grandson Omar Reddick.

Zack leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 56 years, Marian “Bell” Reddick; daughters, Elva Reddick, Regina Waller (Markiest), and special daughter, Audrey Lane (Eugene); sons, Marlin Jones (Yvette) and Orris Jones (Queena); Godson, Kemp Lee (Michelle); God-Brother, Julius “Pop” Jones (Elanor); Special Brother-In-Law, John “Pipe” Spell; Grandchildren, Jemaine Jones ( ), Orris Jones Jr., Shanice Jones, Jalil Reddick, Kaseem Reddick, Sharif Reddick, Shanah Reddick, Yasin Reddick, Quentin Waller, and Colby Waller; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
