Verna Marie
Weaver
March 3, 1939 – September 12, 2025
I am the resurrection and life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die…John 11:25-26
MOTHER VERNA MARIE WEAVER , daughter of the late Elias Ebron and Mary Emma Whichard Ebron, was born on March 3, 1939, in the Meadowbrook community of Greenville, North Carolina. On Friday, September 12, 2025, she peacefully transitioned to her eternal rest at ECU Medical Center, Greenville, NC.
Mother Verna was raised in Meadowbrook and received her education at C.M. Eppes High School. At the young age of nineteen, she met and married the love of her life, Minister Alexander Weaver. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and love. A devoted wife and mother, she found her greatest joy in caring for her home and family. Although she worked briefly at McDonald's and the Hampton Inn, her true calling was being at home and serving faithfully beside her husband.
She had a deep love for the Lord, church, and gospel music. She joyfully sang in the choir at Conetoe Free Will Baptist Church and was also a dedicated member of the Eastern Star until her health no longer allowed her active participation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Mary Ebron; her beloved husband, Minister Alexander Weaver; her brothers, Lain Ebron, Peter Ebron, and Kennedy Ebron; and her sisters, Pattie Worthington and Loriane Langley.
Mother Verna leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories with her children: Chrisie Edwards, Catherine Pettaway, Willie Mooring, Shelia (Tommy) Jennings, Geien Cherry, James (Michelle) Weaver, Derrick Weaver, Toni Andrea Jennings, Carlton Weaver, Tracy (Stephaine) Manning, Tomika Howard, and Dexter (Tinesha) Weaver. She is also survived by one sister, Emma Jean Newton; her special grandchildren Brandon, Dejon, Travon, Joni, Devin, Shanta, Jenora, Eddie, China, Shadari, Curtis, Ashawn, Shana, Josh, Sean, Carlos, Cynee, Aleasha, Tamara, Tommy, Toni, Deaja, Emarie, Porter, and Deleah; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her faith, love, and devotion will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her.
A Service, Love, and Care, Entrusted to Mitchell's Memorial Funeral Home Inc., located at 5426 Front Lane, Ayden, N.C. 28513.
