Catherine Slade departed this life on November 8, 2023. Catherine Slade, the youngest of five siblings, was born on April 29, 1949. She's the daughter of the late Mary Della Peterson Slade and James Odell Slade. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Idell Slade Mayo and Mary Lue Slade-Jones and two brothers, William Auther Slade and Coy Lee Slade.

Catherine attended West Martin School in Oak City, NC, where she was ranked salutatorian of her class of 1967. She later went on to attend Edgecombe Community College, where she succeeded to obtain a degree in early childhood development. She took the opportunity to teach head start children with a passion until she retired. Catherine was a "God fearing" woman. She loved the Lord and was a faithful servant at Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memories one beloved daughter, Trenette S. Roberson (John) of Oak City, NC; one granddaughter, Ajonia S. Sutton (Deor'tah) of Oak City, NC; one grandson, Javious Roberson of Oak City, NC; one sister-in-law, Coran Ann Slade of Hamilton, NC and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
