Alice Patrick
Moore
September 23, 1952 – January 2, 2024
Mrs. Alice Lorraine Patrick Moore, made her peaceful transition from this life to a better life on January 2, 2024. Her life's journey began 71 years ago when she was born on September 23, 1952. She began her Christian walk with the Lord at an early age when she joined Good Hope FWB Church.
Mrs. Moore is a 1970 graduate of W. H. Robinson School, Winterville, NC. In 1974 she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a Concentration in Reading from Fayetteville State University. She also received a Masters of Divinity Degree.
She was a dedicated educator who started her work career at Tyrrell Elementary School in Columbia, NC where she taught Reading Remediation for three years. She continued her journey for 27 years at S. W. Snowden Elementary School, Aurora, NC where she retired as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher. While there she won the Teacher of the Year Award twice.
She retired in 2005; however, she didn't stop there. She began substitute teaching with Pitt County Schools at A.G. Cox, Ayden Elementary, Eastern Elementary, and Belvoir Elementary just to name a few. She took a position at Northwest Elementary where she taught 1st, 2nd and 4th grades. She last taught Reading Remediation at Welcome Middle School when her health began to fail. She also served as a caregiver for her mom during her illness.
She loved the Lord! Roles she served in her church included Vacation Bible School teacher, mother, and even went on to become a minister.
She enjoyed decorating and sewing; making draperies, upholstering furniture, making wedding gowns, dresses, gardening, making wreaths, reading the Bible, spreading the Word, shopping, smelling good, but most of all, she loved children. While in the classroom she loved using her creative skills in designing bulletin boards for the learning environment.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Louise Patrick; brothers, Jesse Ray Patrick, John Patrick, Jr. (Shirley-deceased) and Jason Warren Patrick.
Left to cherish her memories are: husband of 47 years, Willie Moore; two biological children: son, Marquise Moore (Tomeka), daughter, Kendall Moore; all of Winterville, NC; two biological grandchildren; (Jeremiah and Khloe); adopted granddaughter, (Jyniesha Moore) of Greenville, NC; six stepchildren.
